Jnanadeva and the Warkari Movement/Prof. Dr. Fred Dallmayr

Note 10

I also concur with his statement that Jnanadeva's opus is a living thought and not "a matter of mere antiquity or a dry skeleton of speculative games."

Bahirat, The Philosophy of Jnanadeva, pp. 31, 33.  Among others, the assimilation of Jnanadeva to Shankara has  been propounded by such authors as S. V. Dandekar, S. D.  Pendse, L. R. Pangarkar and R. D. Ranade (especially in the  latter's Mysticism in India: The Poet-Saints of Maharashtra,  Albany,NY: SUNY Press, 1983). On the other hand, the linkage  with Ramanujahas been defended by Panduranga Sharma and  others.
