DEDICATION
Both Sri Aurobindo and The Mother insisted that no attempt should be made to write their Biography. Such an attempt is bound to be a failure
because, as Sri Aurobindo wrote to a Disciple, “Neither you nor anyone else knows anything at all of my life ; it has not been on the surface for men to see”. The Mother advised another disciple :
“Do not ask questions about the details of the material existence of this body; they are in themselves of no interest and must not attract
attention.
Throughout all this life, knowingly or unknowingly, I have been what the lord wanted me to be, I have done what the Lord wanted, me to do.
That alone matters.”
However, there is one possibility of looking into their life — it is through their own notes and recollections. Sri Aurobindo had, in
fact, mentioned, “it would be only myself who could speak of things in my past giving them their true form and significance.”
We shall try to do so, to write their biography in their own words as much as possible.
We offer all our effort at the Feet of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.
