From Malaga and Torremolinos, they moved back northwards Marseilles and then to Madrid. There, Gebser was publishing some
of his poems and associating with Spanish poets hanging about Frederico Garcia Lorca. Gebser translated Lorca’s poems into German language.
During this time, Gebser got inspired to the basic idea of his later work.

Writing of ‘Rilke und Spanien’ (Rilke and Spain*). At the outbreak of Spanish civil war, he left the country with a
Mexican interim passport to France.

Arrival in Paris, contacted various publishers and travelled on this subject.

Still together with R. H. Winstone, he entered Switzerland just before the outbreak of World War II.

As his Mexican interim’s passport was expiring, he got a lot of problems as a stateless person for getting published his
work. For obtaining Swiss citizenship, the married couple moved to Burgdorf where his father-in-law Alfonse Schoch was living. Application was made for obtaining Swiss passport.
